May 5th is Children's Day. 73 years ago, in 1948, Children's Day was established. Under the National Holidays Act, it is said that it is a day to "respect the personality of the child, to live the happiness of the child, and to thank the mother". It was not only a celebration of children, but also a day to thank mothers.
By the way, this year's "Mother's Day" is May 9th.

Children's Day is also the “Tango no Sekku”. “Tango no Sekku” is one of the five “Sekku”. We think that there are many people who recognize March 3rd as "Joushi no Sekku (Sekku of Peach)" and a festival against it.
“Tango no Sekku” is a traditional event that has been held since a long time ago (around the Heian period), and it is said that it was originally an event to avoid diseases and disasters (bad ones).
In addition, “Tango no Sekku” is called "Sekku of Iris" because it is an iris flower that blooms at this time of year. The fragrance of this iris flower is very strong, and it has been treated as a medicinal herb that exorcises evil from a long time ago. As a result, we hope for disease-free health by soaking in a bath of irises at “Tango no Sekku”.
Children's Day is a traditional event that lasts from ancient China to the present day. Please take a bath of irises today and spend a meaningful stay home on the last day of a large consecutive holiday (Golden Week).
